world info post

Hey guys. Thanks to some of you who went out and found some real good information, I think we're in a pretty good position to decide where we want to move. So here's what we've got.

THE NULL PLANET

Traveling here would basically put us deep in Null territory. Not very safe, but maybe a good position to strike from, if that's what we're gonna do - and if they don't find us first. This world never belonged to us, but it's the closest one of theirs that's not currently inhabited. From the data you all gave me, it looks like this is because of a solar flare that broke down their network on that world. They haven't repaired it yet, so the world is clear of Null, but they could come back any time.

We've never been to this one, so I can't give you firsthand info, but it looks like it's pretty built up. A lot of structures we could use for defense, and maybe we could find some stuff there. But again, it's definitely the most dangerous option. The Null armada is close, the center of their forces - their hive mind, I guess - is also really nearby. The chance of the Null just accidentally stumbling across us is much higher.

So, long story short, we would be in a great position to strike at them, but a pretty bad one for general survival. There also doesn't seem to be a lot of natural resources there, since it's been so built up. Not a lot of hunting and stuff.

THE JUNGLE PLANET

The rest of these are all places we've at least talked about before, if not visited. This one's the warmer garden world that we mentioned before. It has a pretty vibrant and varied ecosystem, with a lot of trees and cover. It'll be harder to find us through the cover, which is a bonus if we want to act defensively.

In terms of Null presence, it's basically the opposite of the first one. It's way far from Null space, the farthest of the options, and there's no Null forces anywhere near it. They know it's there, though, it's plotted on their maps and marked as one of our worlds, so while it's more hidden than the others they'll probably track us down eventually. We just might get a little more time than we would elsewhere. It's also not a great place to attack from, since we'd pretty much have to wait for them to come to us.

So we've been calling this a garden world, and what we mean by that is that we mostly left it as close to its original state as possible. It's thickly forested, and there aren't a lot of structures there. We had a few small settlements, but mostly we just let it do its thing and harvested any needed resources from time to time. There's a lot of stuff still there, trees and animals and water sources and things.

THE ICE PLANET

That's the one we're on now. You pretty much know about the ecosystem, so there's no point in going over that. The Null can find our location here, but it's totally possible for us to move to a different location on this planet. That could be really clever, because when they don't find us where they expect us to be they'll probably assume we hopped to another world, and stop looking for us here. On the other hand, if they keep looking here anyway, they'd find us faster than they would on another world.

This world is very close to Null space, which is why we used it to meet with them. The info you guys gave me shows that there aren't any Null ships really close, which is good, but that probably won't last long, and since we're so close to their territory they'll be able to get here quickly. But then, we could strike back at them easier from here, too.

Also, you guys have found a lot of really useful information and stuff here. There might be more, though I guess there's less chance of that when we move the city because we'd be picking someplace the Null would be less likely to check - but still, you never know. We might get lucky and find a Null-destroying laser or something, right?

THE DESERT PLANET

Some of you guys remember this one, I bet. It's the first one we went to after we stopped hiding underground. It's hot, it's mostly kind of barren, though there's water around at least. Not a lot of hunting, though there are some ruins scattered around the place. We might be able to collect a little power to make us stronger, like you did for Hope.

Judging by the maps and reports that were handed over to me, there's not a big Null presence on that planet, but that won't last for long. It looks like they're planning a full-scale invasion in order to mine and collect resources. So while it's pretty safe right now, that won't last long, and there's always the chance they'd just accidentally stumble on us.

Since they've got plans for that world, there's a Null fleet not too far off. They're not quite ready for an invasion yet, but they're preparing. We'd probably be all right for a little while, but we'd either need to plan on striking at them or moving against pretty quickly.

THE ISLAND PLANET

Remember the last one we were on, with all the ocean? Yeah, that's this one. You probably all remember it. Lots of water, not a lot of land. Lots of fish, not much in the way of trees or fruit. There might be some stuff there we didn't find before, and the limited amount of land spaces means the Null might not put it first on their list when they're thinking of where we'll go.

It's pretty far from Null territory, and it looks like there's some scouts on the world but not much more. We avoided them pretty well last time, or at least you guys killed whichever ones you found - being discovered isn't why we moved, anyway, so in that way it's one of the safer choices.

There's also no sign of a Null armada in the area. There's some scouting ships in the local space there, and some transmitters to send communications with, but besides that not much. So we wouldn't have a lot to fight against if that's what we decide to do. We could probably stay there for a little while safely, but not forever.
