Sure I did. I was our ambassador, I guess. I had the most direct contact with them before they turned on us.

Pretty much. They make decisions as a collective and act as a collective. Whatever they do, they've come to a consensus about, so they don't need to act independently.

It's kind of far for that. It would take a lot of energy to keep them standing.
some bridges can span up to several miles and if supported right on their own you wont have to worry about keeping them standing. not like youd be worrying about as much traffic as a densely populated city crossing over.
